Jaroslaw Zelinski, MSc, Aberdeen, Scotland. Tel: +44 (0) 7506 613 650, email: info @ jaroslawzelinski.biz.

I am an expat from Poland, I have scientific, teaching and practical achievements. My main area of expertise is the preparation and supervision of ERP implementations and system integrations. I’m constantly researching and teaching Software Engineering and Information Science at university.

I started working in the IT industry in 1991. I have also been designing computerised equipment for the industry (mechatronic systems) for several years. I work for small, medium and large enterprises (mining, manufacturing and service) and public administration. I have also been appointed as an expert witness for several years.

I prepare business process models & do process mapping (BPMN), requirements such as use case models and their specifications (UML), document structures and data dictionaries (UML). I design HLD system architecture (microservices, micro applications) and application integrations using RESTful API (UML). I supervise the implementation process of the systems designed by me. I conduct training in all areas that I deal with.

Software is more and more often part of a larger electromechanical system, in which case the superior electromechanical system is designed first and then its domain elements, including software (SysML/UML).

Since 2014, I have also been continuously teaching students in Warsaw: Letter of Confirmation.

(my Academia.edu profile, ResearchGate profile, ORCID https://orcid.org/0000?0002-8032?4720).

30 years of expertise experience

in business process modelling, information systems engineering, requirements elicitation, software architecture design, systems integration, business analysis, and extracting the business rules to base the business processes. Also authoring supervising for implementation of designed systems. Since 2005 I have been carrying out research and commercial projects using one of the best CASE systems: Visual-Paradigm.

Working from 1991. Experience: public sector, a medium-large private company in all sectors, business processes modelling and analysis, requirement elicitation and information systems design (e.g. one of the world’s biggest copper mine KGHM SA in Poland, production maintenance system modelling, IBM Maximo implementation supervising, collaboration with business and development teams). Design of integration and implementation of PLM systems, design of electro-energetic-electronic-computer systems (mechatronic systems). Many small, medium and big-size e-systems were designed and supervised by me.

Preparing business process models, information design and architecture, system models, and software architecture (OOAD style using BPMN and UML/SysML notations). Experience in designing cloud repositories using the NoSQL technic. Experience with designing mechatronic systems. Since 2005 I have also (a visiting lecturer, part-time) an academic lecturer and researcher.

Models as the subject of research – my papers

Researching activities from 1998. Over 30 articles in popular domain newspapers, a few reviewed scientific papers, and one book (“Business Analysis. Practice of enterprise modelling”, became a bestseller in Poland, “Synthesis of MOF, MDA, PIM, MVC, and BCE Notations and Patterns” printed by IGI Global) and “Digital Documents as Data Carriers and a Method of Data Management Guaranteeing the Unambiguity of the Recorded Information: Ontology-Oriented Data Management and Document Databases“.

I research models as methods . As an independent expert, analyst and designer, successfully (engineering issues: ) implements projects in the field of system analysis of enterprises, designing logic and architecture of information systems, uses standard, formal methods of analysis, which he constantly develops and use in practice.

As part of my scientific work, as an independent expert, analyst, and designer, I successfully implement projects in the field of system analysis of enterprises, designing logic and architecture of information systems, using standard, formal methods of analysis, which I constantly develop and use in practice. I conduct basic research in the field of methods of system modelling analysis.

As a lecturer from 2005-2012, I permanently cooperated with the Information Systems Department of the Maritime University of Gdynia. Since 2014, I’m a lecturer at the Faculty of Information Technology in Management Techniques at the University of Information Technology and Management under the auspices of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The subject of lectures is systems analysis and systems logic design for business, formalized business and systems analysis aimed at optimizing the organization’s work, organizational aspects of business continuity management, and developing requirements for management support software.

Since 2005 I have used Visual Paradigm (VP) CASE software for all purposes in my projects. I use VP for all models and prepare analyses and reports (about 10 years ago I stopped using MS Office for writing reports and scientific papers). Cooperation with Visual Paradigm as a content expert on a voluntary basis.

After work

(Blue Lamp session)

I’ve been living in Scotland (Aberdeen) for some time. In addition to work, during the day I admire the beauty of this country and its distilleries and spend evenings in pubs. If you want to meet me in Aberdeen, have a look at the folk sessions, I’m most often at the Blue Lamp pub on Mondays and Northern Bar pub on Thursdays.
